Road Trip Day 1: Montara/Las Vegas
We started our adventure at first light. Our truck is fully loaded with food, water and camping gear for 4 people. The journey to Las Vegas is fairly uneventful, the quickest route there, Interstate 5, is probably the most boring road in America. The air is heavy with smoke from 2 huge wild fires, blotting out the sun in places, California seems to be burning this Summer. 103° temperature greets us in Las Vegas Nevada, a sharp contrast to the wet cold foggy coast we left behind us in Montara. We leave the excess of Vegas behind us today and head North East to Red Rock country, Utah and the outdoor adventure Mecca of Moab.
